Living Together Project- Team Appalachia Estates
Appalachia Estates home
I was in a group with four other students during this project. Our assignment was to randomly select a biome from three choices: desert, deciduous forest, and grassland, create an animal evacuation plan for three animals we also randomly selected, and design an eco-friendly city based on all of this information. Each person in the group had at least one job. They are: Project Manager, Civil Engineer, Environmental Engineer, Graphic Designer, and Advertiser. Complete with the design of the city and evacuation plan, we had to build our own scale model of the houses, create a budget for the city, design our houses and city using a computer program called Sketch-Up, and provide a brochure and power point presentation.
All in all, I would say the hardest part of the project was the working together aspect. It is difficult to compile all of the group's ideas and come up with a singular, awesome idea. It was also challenging to make sure everyone stayed on task and did what they were supposed to do. If I had to do this project again, I would get the team in order earlier than we did. Towards the end of the project, our group was scrambling a bit and it was stressful. For the next group project, my goal is to have everyone on the same page from the start so we don't run into the same problem. Overall, I think this project was a good learning experience.
